Artist's Comments

I read everyone's comments and tried to reply to them XD. Thank you for all the feedback and tips and extra stuff. I tried to add that along with some information I've picked up while working in this 'industry'. Consider this a "Shove" and yes it is a bit fiesty. Thanks for reading :D.

Thank you for sharing this with us!

I need to draw faster, really... x___x
:iconsairobi:
LMAO, preach it. :3 I had my own reservations about laying down colors like this at first, but it really is the fastest, cleanest way to get to get a page done. And that example of the beautiful, wispy details is perfect -- it really illustrates just how futile it is to work them in. Unfortunately. (I rather like beautiful wispy details. :( )

Another example of just how smooth thresholded lineart reduces: [link] <- that's my Dev ID, colored with the same method (shaded with gradients), at approximately 40% of the working size. (And maybe ... 200% of the actual print size.) Even at this size, the lines are completely smooth. But at 100%, they're hella jagged. It's just something you learn to ignore.

By the by, I'm so watching you, and cheering you on to future comic success. YAY YOU!

Thank you very much :D! I was overjoyed to see your replies to that one guy because I was like "OMG this person knows what's what damn it! :high five:" Thank you for that XD and for watching me. I'm going to go check out your stuff now too!
:iconfirnheledien:
Really good stuff ^^ I've been mostly 'afraid' of the threshold setting before this >_< Now if only my como was fast enough to work with 600 dpi...

Where can I get FG btw? X3
:iconmendras-terol:
XD YAY! Another one! I liked the other one too, but it's nice to know I can have my security blanket and keep my original lines ^_^;; Maybe I'll just EEEEASE into the more pixelated lines gradually >_> Anyways, thanks for the tip, this'll save me A-ALL kinds of trouble trying to color my work.

I was afraid too and almost hell bent on NOT using it. LOL. Until I just tried it out with laying down colors and it went so fast and fluid I was like "O____________O I could have been doing this a LONG time ago!"

300 is really pushing it for quality. Maybe bump it up to 400? I say 600 just by default so you won't have to worry about the issue of "bad print quality" to begin with ^^;;. Kinda likea fail safe.

FG actually isn't finished yet XD. I just got around to finishing the flat colors on the first issue. I should have it done hopefully mid this month though :D.
:iconfirnheledien:
Oh, well my com goes REALLY slow until it's lagging everytime I move the image around or resize T_T Oh, well.. it's mostly for web anyway...
:iconelliryn:
Love the new tut! A lot more detailed than the last one, thank you very much! <3

May I ask though - what's the difference between 600 dpi and 300 dpi, other than the quality contrast when shown on print? Does it actually affect the digital quality of any artwork?
